Silvia Zofio, Principal and Founder, was born in Spain where she obtained her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Architecture from La Universidad Politecnica de Madrid. She began her architectural career working with the Estudio Saenz de Oiza on institutional and commercial projects before she had her own practice with a focus on single and multy-family residential dwellings.
Upon arriving in New York in 2003, she began working with Can Resources (Derek Sanders and Serge Becker) as an Architect on the design and development of ground-up buildings, high-end interior renovations and restaurant projects such as Flowerbox building and Lure Fishbar. In 2007 she was principal and co-founder of RKIT, a firm specialized in restaurant design with projects such as Allen and Delancy, Elettaria, Café Was and Socarrat Paella Bar.
With a vision for a broader architectural practice, Silvia Zofio established SZPROJECTS in 2011 with the intention of using architectural thinking in a collaborative format in order to provide answers for all different types of design challenges.
